I hear everybody hauling water around to put on the ice to check depths. I have found a handy trick to eliminate the water hauling. I clear the ice with boot and spit on the ice then put the transducer on it and you are reeading the depths. sonds gross but works if you cant get to the water.
Good luck

[#0000FF]Haven't tried it but I've heard tell that keeping your transducer in a plastic bag full of water or light vegetable oil will do the trick also. Not a good ecology thing to be using water and antifreeze on the ice though.
If you are covering a large area and making frequent shootings you can run out of spit. I know. But it is only real gross if you are chewing (tobacco) and spitting. Ugly.
