Told quite a few guys I would post up when we first got Cisco in the boat as it's usually earlier than when they show up on the shore...today was that day for 2014. We snagged a half a dozen on tube jigs and spoons in the waves and white caps, also caught a bunch of NICE whitefish...(let a few swim away today that pushed state record) and a mess of trout! Cisco fishing should do nothing but pick up! No ice in the lake, but watch the boat ramps...they can be and were slick today!

I have had a few guys call me and ask about tackle and were to get "bear lake stuff" Pugstones right there in garden city will be open from time to time with Cisco nets, plenty of castmasters, tube jigs and some good advice! His prices sure beat sportsmans warehouse and the rest of the chains...check his website for more up to date info and his cell phone number... he will meet you about anytime to open up the store and get you taken care of!

Best of luck up here guys and be safe! Looks like ice won't be happening for a bit anyway... See ya out there!

Thanks for the report. Some good info, nice to know they're on the move. Probably staging a bit?

Hey thanks for the heads up, were you on Gus's? Where exactly is Pugstone's? I assumed their prices would be double over there like everything else, so I haven't ever stopped in. Thanks for the tips. J

Pugstone's Sporting Goods is located right at the Logan Canyon Road/SR 30 intersection at the stop sign in Garden City.

Does any one know if they are going to allow small boats to launch from the beach???
Year before last we would launch just west of ideal beach, but someone has put up a gate and locked it??? Is there no more beach boat launching any more???

The marina looks fine today...a little bit of snow, but you should be golden!

Pugstone has been there for years at least 10 yrs that I know of. When you get to that main intersection there in Garden city, it is straight across on the other side, the East side.

Man we were all around there on raspberry days don't know how I missed it. I usually find a spot like that and let the girls go do their browsing and I camp out and check out new gear. Maybe my wife seen it first and led me away from it. I knew it was a conspiracy. Later J

I am curious as well if the garden city ramp gate will be open. Very convenient for small boats.

Chugg-

Thanks to our State Legislation, Lyle Hillyard, Bear Lake Watch and a few others, launching outside designated areas (IE State Parks) is now punishable with a Class C misdemeanor.

Here is a copy of HB 333

http://le.utah.gov/~2013/bills/hbillenr/hb0333.htm

This is extremely Sad, and a blow to everyone that liked fishing in small craft on Bear Lake. This was done all in the name of keeping invasive species out of the lake. HB 333 will do NOTHING in this regard.....

If you read into the bill furthermore, you will also see how an exemption was given to beach front property owners, as they are still allowed to use PUBLIC lands to launch their boats, but the general public is not allowed to use their land to launch. Its completely BS.

I am in the process of having an attorney look this bill over and see if it cannot be overturned. It frustrates me to no end.

Flippin figures! And another freedom of ours taken away by politicians who know nothing of the "American Way".

Thanks Rebel! For guys with smaller boats not only does it make life a little easier, but a little bit safer! Taking a small boat the couple miles from the marina to the pile or 1st to 2nd point can be just plain dangerous at times. A quick launch and drive back saved me, my brothers and my dads life more than one in the little tin tub we used to have. And I do literally mean saved our lives! I'm sure you are well aware of how fast a bad wind can make that lake a death trap. Calm to 6 foot white caps in a matter of minutes....
