Hi All,
Bro and I are making our first trip to Strawberry this next weekend. I'm just wondering if the ice is safe for a 4-wheeler right now? Any reports on the ice conditions would be very helpful. Thanks in advance!

I camped on the ice last Friday night on the Soldier Creek side. We had snowmobiles so we moved around a lot. Made it down past the dam to the narrows entrance. Measured ice anywhere from 7" to 12". Out in the middle, where the bay that the boat ramp is in meets up with the main body, the ice is pretty rough and lots of pressure ridges, but we made it across fine. There was, however, a small patch of open water in the middle of this area that was about the size of a house. We rode past it within 75ft or so. Some areas of the lake had maybe 1-2" of snow. Other spots had 6-10" and got slushy.
I hope this helps.

Fishing was O.K. I caught 10 18-20" cutts. The bite was the best about 7:30am, then again about 11:00am. I did not try the bay left of the dam but I saw someone in it when I rode by.

I was there today (marina area) and just got back a couple of hours ago. There is 3-5 inches of semi soft snow on the ice that makes walking and sled pulling a bit difficult in places. Slush is present but varies from almost none to extremely slushy near pressure ridges. The ice is clear and hard and about 8 inches where I fished. Snow is drifting with the wind and watch out for covered ice holes when walking there and back. (ouch on my left ankle)

I suppose I could have been more specific. We'll probably go from the marina out to haw's point. So if anyone has any specifics about that path on an ATV or fishing in that area, that'd be swell too. If not, the information everyone has already posted has been great. Thanks again.
