Here's mine... probably cheaper to build than Duckaholic's... but gets around a lot slower as well. [Wink]

Hey JD is that the cover that comes with the Nils cut down or an aftermarket one. I hate the cover that comes with the Nils but looks like yours would work better.

Thanks

That's the original cover from when I bought it (around 2007/2008).

Here are a couple sled options. The first is a clam-shell design with integrated rod holders on the top shell. This was an attempt to keep the majority of the snow out when flying across the ice. Unfortunately when I mounted the power auger on top it made the sled to top heavy at high speeds. Great design for human power, not so much with a snowmobile. Second are the rod holders for my big sled.

P.S. I still love and use the bullet pen I got from you.

What size PVC pipe are you using for the rod holders on the back of the sled?

[#0000FF]All of the fittings are standard 1" PVC. But the rod tubes are lightweight type 200, rather than the thicker walled schedule 40. That pipe will readily hold most 1" rod handles. The thicker schedule 40 will not. Lowes carries the type 200 but Home Depot does not always have it.

I couldn't find the thin-walled stuff when I built mine... had to go with the 1 1/4" (sched 40) PVC for the rod holders.

I used 1 1/4" sch. 40 PVC for my rod holders which are on the back of my sled. TD's photo titled "Light Load" is a photo of me and the sled at Starvation last winter.
If you use the 1 1/4" sch. 40 PVC, get some of the bell ends and they will allow you to fit rods that have a bigger butt end. I used the bell ends on the two holders on the ends of my rig.
