Fished Tues 10-2pm, SW off Browning Pt. over 31'. Very few bites compared to last Sat. Talked to 5 other groups on way out/in. Only one had some perch. Worried the Slush Monster might read its ugly spread
with this warmer weather. Tougher walking thru all that snow without weekend traffic & trails. [signature]

Thanks for the info. Deciding if I should go there, or head up to Viva. I really want to pile on some perch or crappie filets.

I went there today. It was 4° on arrival at 9 am, with a thick ice fog. Gorgeous, though...
![]() There were six inches of snow atop at least 16" of ice - and very few people. Five total trucks in the Cemetery Point lot. Bite was very slow and tentative from arrival until noon. I couldn't connect on my very soft ultra-light rod. I moved farther out to 22' of water and switched rods and lures. BANG! That was the ticket. Landed an even dozen typical perch and lost a few more on the way up. The secret lure was a Rapala jigging minnow, size 3 in glow with a perch eye. I also caught a few on a green teardrop tied in six inches above the Rapala and baited with a chartreuse Gulp maggot. A fox had meandered around on the snow last night, and he had seriously investigated one particular spot. So that's where I fished. Result? I bet he'll like that spot again -- red ice. (There are two more under that pile...) ![]() [signature]

Oh, I forgot to say that this was the first time I've ever had the Solunar Tables be spot on. The prediction with last night's full moon was for great fishing between noon and two (roughly) And that's exactly when the good bite started - and stopped.

Sorry, I didn't mean my post to sound like there were perch in Viva. I've got a friend heading that way, but I would rather catch perch and crappie in the winter. However, a day out with a good friend is also a nice thing to look forward to. They are catching some dandy trout up there though.

Went out near browning point. Caught 8 perch and 20+ crappie. Used single small green glow jig head with wax worms, spikes, perch eyes and green gulp minnows were the best bait. Fished mostly the bottom at 25' and caught a few larger crappie at 15-20'. Fish were biting mid morning to 4.. 10-12" snow with slush later. 12"+ ice.

Can I ask where Browning Point is? I've been to Cemetary Point is all. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
