Redmond poll?
#1
here is a Question i was asked yesterday By the DNR biologist for that region.
he asked me if i thought Redmond should stay a pike lake or be turned back into a bass lake?

i said as bad as the pike are doing in there i think it would be better to make it a bass lake again..

but though i would put it on here and see what you guy's think..

Bass would be a good idea. I would be surprised if there is a Northern over 36" in there so let there be bass.

I haven't fished it in a few years but I like going down there in the winter and float tube. The times I have fished it the largest pike I ever caught might have been 23" - 24" long. I have caught some good sized bass in there but not very many. The deepest place I remember was only about 8' - 9' deep. There were not many other anglers when I have been there but I only fish it in the winter so I don't know how much use it gets the rest of the year. Isn't there carp and catfish in there too? It's a great place to watch waterfowl. It would be nice if the DWR could do something to improve fishing there.[Smile]

I fished Redmond quite a bit when I lived in Richfield and used to catch a few largemouth bass and the occasional channel cat along with a bajillion dink mudders. I'd LOVE to see the pond rotenoned out completely and see largemouth reintroduced along with some sort of forage minnows. Trouble is, the damn carp will find their way back in.
