Haven't fished since last month but I went by the south end and first fished in 8-12' of water for blue gill and bass then went to the knolls that's the small mountain hill by the trail and fished 13-14" and caught some perch and bass. Ratfinkies and glow jigs tip with night crawler, wax, or meal worm worked great back then.
I'm guessing the ice would be like 12-15" by now.

Mantua has dropped off considerably in recent weeks. I was just there recently and it was slow slow slow. Other fishermen have said the same thing. Officially 'lock jaw' season on that pond.
If you're looking to just catch fish Hyrum is probably the place to go, as it's chalk full of planter rainbows and not much else.

You can still find fish out there, even mutated ones, eh Lava, only the freaks are still out "partying that pond".
Go past the boat launch, along the south dike. most folks go past, turn around - then park along the north side of the road, just NOT where the opening to the lake is (some people, geez). Then follow the trail more of less - out towards the knoll.
Might do better trying to land in the "flow" from the inlet, just not too close! I'd expect O2 levels have dropped a lot, and slows em down.
Small is good for gills. Glow is good. I'm hearing with this moon - that midday to early afternoon is more likely a hotter bite. I might still make a Hyrum run yet.

The theory(which makes sense to me) is that a shallow, weedy lake like Mantua suffers from oxygen deprivation not long after iceup. The decaying vegetation robs the water of oxygen and there's no air exposure to replenish it.
Naturally, fish that are oxygen-starved won't be in the eating/fighting mood. Even if they survive.
