Just curious if one could still take a wheeler on the road to rennegade?. Is it packed down enough that wheelers won't get stuck? Also curious about the road to the dam. Took a truck down it a couple weeks ago and didn't know if people are still driving down that road with the warmer temps. I hear the slush is bad if you take a wheeler from the marina over around Haws and towards the meadows. Trying to get away from the crowds but don't have sleds. Thanks.

Slush in the meadows area is pretty bad, but only about 8-10" deep. I was there today on snowmobiles and had not trouble. I saw 2 or 3 quads go buy that were managing but the slush definitely slowed them up a bit.

Yeah, on Friday we chickened out of the drive in the meadows with the four wheelers. Slush was pretty deep. Had passengers, too so we thought better of it. Ended up fishing north of Big Hole (north of the old dyke site).
I don't know about the road. I have wondered the same thing about if a wheeler could make it on the road. I am worried that if you got off the packed, you would sink like a rock. Has anyone been around on a wheeler?

Well we ended up heading to SC and driving on the road to the dam. Parked at teh highway and drove down a ways and fished the east side of the lake. Landed 16 between 4 of us and had a few get off right at the hole. Slush was a little sketchy in places, but we managed. I really wanted to get over to a place by rennegade but without any previous responses I didnt dare. The road to the damn was plenty packed, at least the part we drove on. Even saw a ranger crew with like 7 people out on the ice. They seemed to get around ok. Hopefully someone will try the trip to rennegade and report back.

Would it be feasible for a guy to wheeler across the lake to the renegade area or is the ice not safe enough for a machine out in the main bays?

I went to Renegade from the Marina (around Haws Point) twice last week on snowmachines. The ice is fine. 14" thick at Renegade. I would only be a little worried about the slush if riding a wheeler.
