Fish Lake
#1
Anybody willing to give an ice report, for Fish Lake. We are taking the kids up for a perch slaying party this week, just wanted to make sure conditions were going to be good, with the 45 degree temps they have been having and all. Thanks

Make sure everyone has cleats or some sort of traction on their feet! It's a slick mutha out there. We were on the south half of the lake and there was about 8" of ice over the deep water. When we went into the weed line, we found it was only 4". A co-worker said it was even sketchier on the north end with some open water here and there. We were fine on the south, the fishing was good and there were tons of folks out enjoying the great weather. Lots of wheelers and snow machines, which I would advise against after finding the thinner ice. Have fun.

Ice on the South end is a solid 8". The open water is right at Twin Creeks and goes completely across the lake. Weather has been awesome with very little wind the days we were there. No slush and only patchy snow. Make sure you have cleats for sure.

We were there Saturday and we were in 8 to 13 inches of ice on the south and east sides. As mentioned before there are some real slick areas and the weather was beautiful. Lots of sun and little wind. It should be a great time for the kids.

Fished it yesterday north of Joe Bush, by where the gate closes the road. We had 7 of us down there and did pretty good. When the perch were in, we did great. We would go through 30 minute spells where we caught them as fast as we could get down to them, and other times when we had lulls on the perch. When the trout came through the perch shut down and we would catch them.

I usually don't fish that part of the lake, but there was open water where we usually go, so we had to pick another spot. Ice was slick, we had cleats. Ice was 8 inches thick. Boy was it making noise!

Caught most our fish on Hali jigs, but just about anything we dropped caught fish.
