Fish Lake Ice fishing
#1
Looking at heading to Fish lake this weekend. Anyone been there lately? How thick is the ice? Is there any snow? How about pointers?

I went Fri night Saturday. Fished over 100 ft of water and buddy and I caught 60+ rainbows, splake and lakers. Ice was only 4" in middle of lake and due to the heavy wet snow we were sitting in 3-4" of water on top of the ice. Another member said it was 6" of water by Sunday. I don't target perch so I cannot help you there but use small jigs with mealworms for rainbows. I like deep water as it is away from people this time of year and if you are close to steep structure you will be fishing all depths.

Went Sunday fishing was good but it's a huge slush monster. 11" of ice with 2-4" of slush or water if you have your heater on. Make sure you have very warm snow boots. As well bring a tent and tons of ice screws. The forecast said 8-10 mpg but it was blowing a good 20-30 mph afternoon. As well watch out for the older holes that haven't got a chance to freeze up or you might go in one leg. Got my pack heal in the water from an older hole.

Perch and rainbows were in 20' of water. Perch were on the bottom to about 15 ft a few came up in 5 ft. The bows in 5-10 ft for the most part. Ratfinkies, TD jigs, small perch swim bait tipped with any bait worked but the best was meal worms.

Hope this helps out

Fishing was great all weekend. Slush monster showed up on Sunday. Fished 20' of water for perch and a few rainbows and splake. Fished 65-75 feet of water and caught splake and bows at a fast pace. 25' down and 55' down, fish finder helped seal the deal when the fish came through. Anything small worked on the perch, if it moved they hit it. In deep water it had to be tipped with meat or worm.

Saturday the lake was white, Sunday after the storm let up had a lot of water and slush in the middle, be careful and stay clear of the middle of the lake, it didn't look safe out there.

Didn't see that typo.

I'm happy that my small Ford Taurus got great mpg on this trip.Cost of the trip was only $55 in total with a 3 way split. Wish the lake wasn't so far or I'd be back there again this week.
