Bear Lake ice conditions 2/10
#1
I managed to get into the valley via Preston and while I was not able to wet a hook I drove around to Cisco beach to take a look at what the ice situation is. As of 2/10 the lake still has open water in the middle, though most of the banks are iced. The recent snowfall has left several inches of slush on the ice, and with the forcast for this week being much of the same I expect that only to worsen.

There were a few brave souls fishing through the ice just north of cisco beach, so I would assume the ice is safe if you want to wade through the slush.

BTW this last storm was supposedly the most snow they have seen in 17 years (according to a few locals). Should help a bit with the water situation.

Thanks for the report. I'd say good news, but . . . guess I'll put away the idea of spooling up my braid on the big rods this year (unless we get a crazy cold snap!)

Thanks for the report. I looked at the snotell for Franklin basin and it said we went from 35" to 75" for sno pack with these storms.

There was about 24" in Bloomington when we arrived on Saturday, which settled about 6-8" by we left on Monday. The east side of the lake did not seem to have quite the accumulation as the west bench area.
