Is Strawberry worth it this Saturday 2/15?
#1
I haven't been up ice fishing this year at all. I have 2 buddies that want me to show them the ropes since I've been ice fishing for the past 10 years now. We were thinking of going up on Saturday morning. I usually park at the Marina parking lot and walk out to a special spot I like.

Having not been up there this year, is the ice as awful as it sounds? We don't use snowmobiles or ATVs. We'd just be walking a few hundred yards to our spot and setting up our chairs. We don't use an ice tent either..we pack pretty light.

I REALLY want to go up on Saturday so I need some advice here. Is it just unbearable ice? Or is it mostly a pain for those who have ATVs and are getting stuck. If we need to walk 200 yards, is the slush impossible to maneuver through?

Also, any ideas on how thick the ice is right now?

Maybe give the Marina a call and see what they say...
Please post what they say so we all can get a Slush Monster Report..

A buddy and I fished Strawberry on Wednesday the 12th. The snow was at least a foot thick with another 7 inches of slush underneath. We walked 100 yards and were completely spent. Snow/slush was up to our hips at some points. If you don't mind a lung buster of a walk and wear high rubber boots you will be okay. Definitely made for a difficult walk on and off the ice. 4 wheelers or snow machines will definitely get buried in the stuff.
