Daniels
#1
Thinking about heading up to Daniels Res this weekend but cant find any ifo about ice conditions. Does anyone know the current condition. Planning on bringing a plank but would hate to get up there and find too much open water. Any updates would help.

Try Deep Creek. I heard the school boy's didn't fair to well. Five rod's and bait. Try it. Close to the dam.

No bait at Daniels. They say.

Dueling Banjos. Are still are around.....

Salmon has a few them....

THEY say, or is it the Proclamation.

Information:
Daniels Reservoir, 375-acres on the Little Malad River, is about 15 miles northwest of Malad City on West Daniels Road (also known to locals as Little Malad River Road). The fishery is for rainbow and cutthroat trout. Special regulations at Daniel's Reservoir include a two trout limit, none of which may be under 20 inches long. Also, anglers must use artificial flies and lures. Only one line can be used when ice fishing. Barbless or mashed barb hooks only.

Look forward to the report however I am waiting for the Open Water report[Wink]

Sorry for the delayed report. Got there yesterday at 0700 and made it onto the ice. Edges are starting to rot but were froze enough all day to get on and off without breaking through. Least pressure I have ever seen on Daniels in 20 years (intermittent) of fishing it. One group showed up around 0800 and a solo around 1000, that was it. The bite was steady until we left at 1230. Ended up icing 9, only one slot buster (which was happy to get back into the hole). Lost half a dozen on the way to the hole and missed at least a dozen bites. Thickest ice I have ever seen, the hard deck is still 20+ inches thick. Had a blast and look forward to ice fishing it again this year if I can get the time next weekend. I believe from here on out, a plank will be necessary to get on. Hope this helps anyone who is wanting but uncommitted to fishing it again this yearSmile

Thanks for the report. I am foaming at the bit for open water though.
I bet it's hard keeping fish on under ice with barbless hooks. Nice job.
