UL carp and gills through the ice
#1
Fished UL on friday 2/21 after work with my buddy and saturday 2/22 in the morning with my daughter and son in law.
In the 2 trips we caught at least 60 gills, 5 crappie, and one big carp I managed to squeeze through the hole.
All crappie and except 6 bluegills (kept for lunch) are happily still swimming around.
The carp did not go back in or home for my lunch. It was left in the phrag where I am sure a raccoon or skunk will dine away happily.
Ice was 12" in the harbor but the lake was shifting.
2 or 3 more weeks and it will be time to fire up the outboard!

*Sorry the 4th pic is upside down, I tried to fix it but failed.

Congrats on the haul. I have been getting a few but not nearly the numbers you are catching. Are you going out on the ice? I have been staying on or near the docks at AF Harbor

[#0000FF]Hey Shane, glad you are still finding some willing gills. Also glad you "released" that carp back to the ecosystem. We all have to do our part to save the Junies...one carp at a time.

Here's how I carefully release the carp I catch from my tube...making sure I remove the slime layer...and more.

Staying in the harbors, I don't trust the ice anymore once you leave the mouth of the harbor.

The first carp picture is cool cause its so zoomed in that it looks like you put a magnifying glass over the carp haha. Nice catches but I would have kept the carp myself and not given it to the raccoons though because good catfishing is just around the corner [fishon]
