Hey there fellas

I saw this and thought immediately of Pat. This is no frills float tubing down under

The fish is a barramundi. Over a yard long. A prized fighting fish found in the warm waters of northern Australia. Not sure if it is croc country.

[#0000FF]Hey old friend, thanks for thinking of me (us) and sharing that video. Fun stuff. And nice fish.

Actually, that is how I began my "float tubing" career. As a 12 year old kid, in southern California, I used a car tire inner tube to kick and paddle out far enough to ride the waves on Pacific Ocean beaches. On a couple of excursions I got out beyond the waves and I could see small fish swimming around under me. So I started bringing out a fishing rod and some bait. I caught fish and I was "hooked". I also got tumbled in the surf a few times and had to clean sand and salt water out of my only reel.

I started out like the guy in the video...sitting down inside the tube. Didn't take long for me to start wearing my snorkeling fins, to move around better. Then an uncle gave me a larger tube, from a truck tire. I experimented with different seats until I was able to fashion an interior sling from canvas. I used that for quite a few years...in salt water and fresh...until some of the first commercial float tubes came along.

From what I know of the fishing in Oz, most of the rivers that hold barramundi also have crocs in them.

Let us know when or if you will be visiting us again. We enjoyed your reports while you were here last time...and the few you have posted from your part of the world too.

Miss you Funchy! Thanks for popping in, I'm still shaking my head and laughing.

Awesome, the guys got some thick skin! And I've been impressed by Idahorons tooning adventures with Sturgeon. Holy buckets.

Dig the hydrowave, fueled by pork n beans no less? Reminds me of hoe we turn our bathtub into a Jacuzzi. Good thing it didn't come bite his bum.

Takes all kinds, truly
