Well, GREAT NEWS! Due to the urging and help of a fellow board member and others of you showing recent interest we now have enough people to put together a solid THURSDAY TOURNAMENT series. We can be REAL Weekday Warriors - fishing tournaments, learning from each other and enjoying some competition (and maybe some bragging rights for our "hard" work).
This is a great way to get to enjoy tournaments if you work weekends, want weekends with your family or simply just want to fish more tournaments AND get the benefit of avoiding the "power squadron" of the weekends!
The more people we have the bigger the prize money so feel free to share this with any of your friends or fellow anglers!
This will be a "paper" tournament where boaters will compete against boaters and non-boaters will compete against non-boaters.
Entry fees will be $30 per person cash (boater and non-boater). There will be an optional $5 side pot for BIG fish.
The top 30% of Anglers will be paid out and it will be "rounded up" meaning: If there are 20 boaters then 6 will pay out, 10 boaters then 3 will pay out, 8 boaters then 3 will pay out, 6 boaters then 2 boaters will pay out, 5 boaters then 2 boaters will pay out (30% of 5 boaters is 1.5 so it will be rounded up to 2 boaters anytime the result is above an exact number such as 3.2 it would be 4 boaters being paid out). The same will apply to non-boaters.
For the BIG fish the pot will be combined between the boaters and non-boaters and paid out to only the largest fish of the day no matter if a boater or non-boater catches it. If there is a "tie" then the anglers 2nd largest fish is the tiebreaker and so on (if it ever happens where 2nd largest is a tie we will go to the 3rd largest fish, etc).
Payout will be 100% at each tournament the first year (2014) - as next year there would be a AOY award as well that would have "carry forward" from entry fees at each tournament (percentage to be determined at a later time).
Boater and non-boater pairings will occur at the ramp the morning of the tournament at a designated time (usually 5:00am unless otherwise designated) so that blast off can be at "safe light" which is rather early in June. Blast off order will be based on drawing of numbers by the boaters and then non-boaters will draw "matching number" to identify boater they will fish with.
The schedule will be as follows for the first 3 tournaments (additional to be added based on participation of the first 3).
May 22nd - East Canyon (Main boat ramp)
June 5th - Pineview (Port ramp near dam)
June 19th - Jordanelle (Main boat ramp)
SIGN UP will be via replying to an email asking for who will be participating each week by tuesday at 9pm (will be sent by monday each week before tournament) so that we have a solid number for how many boaters and non-boaters. You can sign up at the ramp the morning of the tournament but may not be guaranteed entry. If there is a shortage of non-boaters (at this time it appears there is not) then the two lowest blast off positions drawn would be partnered to fish together.
SPORTSMANSHIP will be of utmost importance and obeying all state and federal boating and fishing regulations will be required.
The body of water being fished will be off limits for any participant from 9pm the day prior until the event begins (for example if a tournament is on Thursday the 22nd of May then no participant can be on the body of water being fished in the tournament after 9pm on wednesday the 21st - approximately 8 hours before pairings begin on Thursday morning).
Do PM me or email me if you are interested in being added to the information emails that are going out.
Also feel free to post here as well (on this thread) that you are interested.
