I hit Deer Creek EARLY this morning to try some topwater bassing and to try a few new techniques I learned from UTBASS last spring.
I launched just before 5:30 with the air temp a cool 43 and the water temp 61.
The topwater was slow but punctuated by nice 13" smallie. My timing is rusty as I lost 5 for the one I nailed.
I wanted to try a senko for the shaded areas as the sun rose over the hilltops. That was the ticket. I added 4 more in less than 30 minutes.
While I was working out my Senko pitching, a 26"-ish carp trolled about 2' under my fins.... apparently interested in the wedding ring and worm harness I'd just left sitting in the water while pitching for Bass.
Again, I wished I had a bow on my tube....
Oh, and I caught two nice bows (17" and 15") dragging a fly while hunting the bass.
Another awesome morning tubing DC!
