Love to go out to Lowell and Strike, but I don't love seeing $15-$20 disappear out the exhaust pipe every trip. So I was hoping to save gas and hit some of the local ponds for bass and bluegill.
I went to Bruneau Dunes a few days ago and a good part of the small lake was unfishable due to weeds covered with clouds of filamentous algae.
I never seem to hear much about the local ponds. The Statesman sometimes mentions they've been stocked, but I don't care for stocker rainbows.
Do any of the local ponds have decent panfish and stay relatively clear? I have a pontoon so I can get away from shore.

Kuna pond had terrible weeds and only has trout as far as I know.
Eagle/McMillian doesn't usually have weeds, usually has trout, bass, catfish, and green sunfish (tiny usually) but has a lot of people fishing it and you can't use your pontoon that I'm aware.
Parkcenter should have catfish, bass, bluegill and trout, but I've only caught trout. Weeds aren't bad, not sure if you can use a little boat.
There are some ponds behind the new outdoor mall area on Eagle (near Yardhouse and Big Al's bowling, across from Sportsmans), one has trout, the other has bass and I assume bluegill. I didn't fish it, but there were lots of people and some were catching.
Eagle Island is pretty good, we've taken the pontoon out a few times for trout, small bluegill, caught some 12 inch and bigger bass, and one pretty big carp. Water can be pretty dirty and warm.
Those are the local ponds I've fished. If I want some better fishing I go to Lowell and sometimes Swan Falls, but being off Eagle puts me closer than you probably are.

Thanks for the feedback. I checked out Eagle Island and Quinn's Pond on Saturday, but there was an intense swimmer hatch going on at both places. Couldn't find a place to park within walking distance of the water, so I decided to wait for a weekday.
