Fished Walcott Friday and Saturday. Only caught as the sun went down and in the morning from 6 to 8. Don't waste your time during the day. Both pm fish were over 4 lbs. Used a minnow pattern fly trolling. 4 fish in the am with the fly and a gold husky jerk rapala. Fishing for trout. Water 64 degrees. Didn't catch a lot but they were all big.

Headed out to Walcott in the AM. Probably will be after bass. Where you trolling? How deep were the fish? Thanks for the report.

Thanks. We went out this AM and after a couple of hours got blown off the reservoir. We caught a few bass but left early because of the wind.

We are camping at lake Walcott later this month. Is this body of water compatible with water skiing? safe for fiberglass boats?

Yes to both, make sure you take lots of bug spray. Caught some nice fish Friday before it got real hot and the skiers got out in force. Shad raps!

anyone in here familiar with fishing the river below Walcott? Planning to float it with some friends that have done it once or so before but we're all fairly new to this section. Any advice would be appreciated.

The fishing below the dam from the dock to the first Island is decent for Trout and Bass. Below the first Island, I would focus on Bass. Down river about 3 miles where the river homes begin is usually productive with plastic and cranks.

Just be carefully in the shallows. 2 boat s in our group hit a rock and ruined props. Stay away from the shallows if you aren't looking for bass or carp. The random rocks will get ya. Away from the bank and bays it is fine.
