After a few days of high winds and heavy rain, the weather finally settled enough to make evening tarpon fishing much more enjoyable. Starting at Haulover Inlet, we caught and released an 80 pounder on our first drift. After it got dark, the fish disappeared and it was time to go into the Bay. We saw no fish at the first stop. At the next location, we hit pay dirt, or so we thought. Lots of tarpon in the 20 to 40 pound class were actively feeding except on our jig and shrimp combo. We finally got a hit, only to have the tarpon throw the jig on its first jump. We made another move and changed techniques resulting in another tarpon strike, one jump and a thrown hook. Next stop was Government Cut on the north side. No action had me moving to the south side where two drifts had us questioning where the tarpon were. Final score was 1 for 3 on tarpon. We'll be at it again tomorrow night.

Captain Dave Kostyo
Knot Nancy Fishing Charters
305 620-5896 Charter
305 732-2628 Beeper
www.rnfl.com/knotnancy
nkostyo@bellsouth.net
