Hey guys, so ive been itching to get out and do some fishing in the uintas. Now usually i camp there with my family and we only ever fish the provo or the some of the lakes alongside the road, this time however i plan to bring my Girlfriend. seeing as how both of us are avid hikers i would like to get some info on where i could go. normally i will opt out of any serious hiking or fishing during the fourth of july weekend but with the new job i have time is of the essence and i want to make the most of my days off. i dont mind if its a long hike as long as i get to avoid the hordes of people. thanks in advance!

I've never been on a holiday weekend, but my experience is that that farther you get from a parking lot, the let people you see. Cuberant lakes may be a good option, it is about 3 miles in I think, with several different lakes to fish. I am planning a trip here sometime this year.
Island lake of the Crystal Lake TH may be another, it is about 4 miles in, but fairly easy. I have heard that Ramona lake near Crystal lake is beautiful, but I have not been there. There are a number of lakes you could hike to off of the crystal Lake TH, that aren't quite as far of a hike.

I have been there on the fourth several times and each year it is more popular. I would try however. You can still have a good time and for the most part, the crowds are harmless.
I agree maybe hiking off the normal paths and if you tent it find a nice secluded area.

If you hike even 1 mile, you will see far fewer people. Even fewer fisherfolk will walk over a mile to fish. I'm sure glad.

1000 lakes and ponds, 600 ish have fish, one doesn't work try another, then another.
From the Crystal Lake trailhead three basic options, all are good. West toward Duck, Beaver, Island, Fire, Junior.
One toward Clyde, Three Divide Lakes, James, John.
One toward Wall, Hope, Faith, Notch Pass, then down to Ibantik, Meadow.
Lots of people, not many trouble makers, to much work.
I like them all, they are like old friends, each has a unique personality.
Also fun to go to the Ericson Lakes , but a hardy 4x4 needed to get to start.
Baldy Mt has a trailhead as well. Dean, Notch. Bench
Explore. Topo maps can be printed for free. Note, not all trails are accurate.
