I fish 90% from the bank, and 10% from a boat
#1
I have been in both spots more than a few times. I approach it from the perspective as we all have an equal right to the water. A respectful distance should be maintained but I find myself more often than not reeling in when a boat comes by and letting them pass (because most of the time that is all they want to do). I do this because I would not want to get my line caught up in their motor as much as they don't want to catch my line. I think some guys on the bank feel a boat is gong to scare off any fish or make them not able to be caught. That is so far from the truth, fish are either there or not. And if they are there, they are there for a reason (food, safety, or sex). Bottom line I treat the boats as I would treat someone walking up and sitting next to me on the bank. I exchange pleasantries, and wait for them to move on, then get back at it. If I am in a boat, I have found a little communication goes a long way. I usually let them know "hey just passing by" or do you mind if we fish over here on this side. There are A-holes out there, both on the bank and in the boat...I just try to make sure I am not one of them Smile
