Thousand Lake Mountain?

We are making our annual trip to Loa this year and I won't have my boat with me this time. I used to fish the small lakes on Thousand Lake Mountain, but haven't tried them for years. How are they for fishing? How accessible are they for my kids to be with me?
Are there any decent fish in them?
