Possession

[#800000]I got the real answer about ‘possession’ straight from the Law Enforcement Division of the DWR. I’d like to preface the answer with a general comment about the approach to the appropriate application of the law by the DWR Law Enforcement Division. In order to best achieve wildlife management goals, they rely on applying the law in a common sense manner. Yeah, yeah; some of you are laughing your behinds off at that statement. But my comment is not only based on their assertions on this policy, but to 37 years of having known, hunted, and fished with several members of their division up to and including the top cop for Northern Utah. Enough said.[/#800000]

[#800000]There isn’t a definitive answer or criteria in the law that specifically defines when possession ceases to exist with regard to game animals, birds, or fish; possession is possession. Processing it into jerky, canning it, smoking fish, etc. does NOT eliminate it from the possession count limit. If it exists in your household (or at your campsite) in ANY form, it is still in your possession.[/#800000]
