Anybody hit Strawberry today?
#1
[Wink]Sorry to sound impatient. I just thought I heard a bunch of guys say the other day that they were going out there today (HFT,Predator,Aquaman,IFG, etc) and I was wondering how they did. Heck, maybe the fishing was so good that they are all still out there in the dark![Tongue] I can't wait to hit that lake, but I have to go to St. George for New Years and visit my grandma, so no going out this week. Good luck to those of you that are going out there this week.

Check out the "ice fishing report" by Guest. I guess IFG is having problems with his computer but he put up a great report about Strawberry and a couple of other areas he fished over the last few days. WH2

hey O4T-- i hit the berry today with hft and my dad. we went to utah lake first, but there was only about an inch of ice in the area where we were. so we piled back in the car and headed to strawberry! it was sunny, but i swear the temp was ten below. we went to soldier creek and the first drop down, hft caught a thick 18" cut. we didn't stay for too long because of the temps, but had a good time while we were there. that was my first experience catching big fish through the ice!! white whatta crickets tipped with a waxie proved best... i tried a chartreuse one for a bit, but white was better. we forgot hft's vexilar, but we were fishing in about 25 feet of water. oh! and last but not least-- there were 6 inches of ice and then a pocket and then another 3 to 4 inches. very thick. there were guys also fishing in the ladders and chicken creek east... i'm not sure how they did, but they were there!!!

[Wink]Thanks for the report, hookedchica, and it was nice meeting you and your dad at the bft gettogether at lost creek. Those Strawberry Cut's are beauties, aren't they? I can't wait to get up there. Oh yeah, how deep was the snow on the ice?

in soldier creek it was about 8"-10"... you might want to ask hft for a more accurate measurement. and it was a bit slushy too, BUT in lots of places it had hardened up and you could walk on top of it. i would bring a sled if you've got one... i was wishing that we had taken ours. and a tent... with a heater. [Smile]

yeah-- those fish are beautiful... i caught a rainbow that was seriously lavender with light blue. it was amazing.
