Well, when I was a young buck I used to love this kind of weather...did ice fish then, but it kept the fair weather skiers in the valley. Now that I'm an old fart I'm sitting at home (at least the electricity came back on after only one cold night) wishing I could use my '03 license one more time...but I've already got my permit for '04 so I've been thinking about some fishin' resolutions for the new year.
First and foremost I want to beat FischRMann in all 4 categories (1st fish, last fish, biggest fish, and - most important - most fish) at least once this year. He toys with me, lets me get up to a 5-fish lead and then whoops on me. BTW, there is a 5th category, but it only comes into play when he "wins": smallest fish.
Next, I'm hoping to get out to Starvatiion this year. I don't know why, but I have this feeling that there are fish to be caught there.

If you are a walleye fisherman then you should get over to Starvation for sure in 2004. This was my second year of fishing Starvation and it was great, walleye, brown trout, smallmouth and now perch. I've never caught any huge fish there but there is a good variety. There are a few of us here that make a trip there at least once every year, so watch for a post about fishing Starvation in the spring and lets make a trip there. Curtisfish is one of the guys that lives close to there so he is a good source of information and a great fishing partner if you can work out a day for him to meet you there, good luck on your Resolutions. [#0000ff]I don't know if this is my New Years Resolution or just a dream; But as for me, I have hopes of getting me a new boat, with at least 200hp or better. As for size, about a 20' / 21' will do nicely. Now for the tough decission, what make or model? "Unknown Yet".[/#0000ff]

Yeah, it would be good to see PA get another 4-category win this year. They are nice and not that easy to come by. Takes a lot of skill to consistently catch the smallest fish of the day. Keep working for it an you'll get there. Just remember to always drink Sprite, because Grant Hill drinks Sprite!
My resolution is to try to train harder for Ironman in 2004 than I did this year and to make an effort to combine my training with my fishing. I would like to be able to spend an hour swimming alongside my boat while one of my buddies is trolling for wipers or trout. Then I could get back into the boat and fish and not feel like I've neglected any fishing or training. This might also help to fulfill PA's goal of beating me if he had a 1-hour lead! This goal will have to wait until the water is at least 60 degrees though.
Best of luck on the new year to you all! Fish On!!!!

The idea is that I would swim along side of the boat. I guess I would make a good outrigger if I were to stick a rubber band on the back of the wetsuit that you could snap off from the boat if you hooked a fish. I would hope that the hooks are farther out the back of the boat than the transom. I'll pull the gear out anytime. It makes for some good cross training.
