Hyrum 09-14-14
#1
I was able to hit Hyrum with my kids and brother in law Sunday. The water was extremely low but with that said we were able to launch the boat with no issues. It was our first time hitting Hyrum so there was definitely a learning curve and I still don't have it figured out. We didn't get skunked though so I call that a success! My boy caught his first rainbow and he was very happy about it. Picture below. We caught 2 more rainbows and then it was time to go. Another great day on the water.

Don't judge me because I fish differently than you...

Thanks for the post. I hear they are having a tagged fish contest down there now, did you hear anything about that? As soon as I get a new hydraulic clutch line in the truck [Tongue] I think I'll head over that way.

Yep they have it running through October. That's about all I know. My boy really wants to win a prize catching a fish so I'm sure we will be going out again soon.

Last Friday they had only had 5 of 100 tagged fish caught so far, but I didn't catch one of them either. Good luck. J

Anyone have a link or information on this contest? Been looking for a place to fish over the October school break, and we were thinking Mantua because we could also hit the Gossner Cheese factory and get some Aggie Ice Cream; I'd switch from Mantua to Hyrum for the contest. Plus, my son's name is Hyrum, so we're bound to have good luck there, right?

And what do you do if you get a tagged fish? Remove the tag and turn it in?

Thanks in advance for any information.

They told me to turn the fish into the office there at the state park. Prizes are mostly from local businesses and varied from $25 to $400 in value I think they said. Later J

Here is the link. I stand corrected it goes through Nov 30th. Also you can just remove the tag to claim your prize and release the fish if you choose.
