#1
************************* Carters Lake Report************************
2/25/02

The lake is at full pool and water temp is 48 degrees.

STRIPERS: some fish can stiill be found in the creeks and up the river from half way up out to the mouth's.
with the cold water temps the top water bite is spuradic but if you find fish breaking they will hit a redfin or a pearl colored superfluke. most of the fish are being caught on downlines 20 to 35 ft. deep using shinners, shad, and trout. the fish are cold and sluggish and not making those hard strikes like they are known for. some of the bites will be very subtle and hard to detect at first.

SPOTTED BASS: Some big females are begining to stage on sand and clay secondary points from half way, all the way to the backs of creeks.find the creeks on the northern end of the lake with slightly warmer water and fish a carolina riged lizard in pumpkin seed color with an 18 to 24 inch leader a 3/4 oz weight. cast the rig all the way up to the bank and
drag it back to the boat very slowly. most of the fish are coming in 8 to 12 ft of water. this pattern is strong for the bigger fish and should get stronger as the water warms on through the month of March.
some fish can also still be caught on deep rock ledges and blowdowns 20 to 35 ft. deep, on a texas riged finesse worm in green pumpkin or watermelon seed.

for more info or to book a trip
contact us at 770-735-2625
email: jeff.guide@tds.net
or visit us on the web at
http://www.carterslakefishing.com
