Had a great day at the Berry yesterday. We tried trolling with downriggers near renegade and had little success. We then started getting hits as we let out the line BEFORE connecting to the downrigger. We then began just surface trolling and landed 15 nice cuts over the next two hours. The winning ingredient seemed to be white and green tube jigs with a small piece of worm...We were off the lake by 10:00am after arriving at 6:00am. My tip to you...go VERY shallow. I never even saw a fish on the finder they were so close to the top....good luck. See photo of one of the larger-than-slot lunkers we brought in.

Where did you launch from.
Curious if the road to Renegade is finally open.

I heard the road to Renegade was still under construction. We launched from the Strawberry Marina. However, there was quite a few float tube guys I had to troll around, so they managed to get there. Have fun.

The road to Renegade is still tore up where they are replacing the culvert pipe. We drove through in the morning just a little bumpy, but had to wait a little while in the afternoon to get through while a backhoe got out of the way. It could be awhile before the work is completed and paved.

I was at Strawberry on the 20th. Launched at the main marina at 7:30am and headed due south to Renegade. We were using dodgers and nightcrawlers with spinning gear pretty much trolling on the surface. We fished east and west near Horse Creek Bay mainly but did get out in the middle now and again. The two of us landed 47 Cutts and 12 Bows for a total of 59 fish. My friend had only fished twice in his life an never caught a fish. He thought he had died and gone to fish heaven. The interesting thing is we caught a lot of big fish in the 19' to 21' range. One Bow was 21' and really fat. It was one of those days when everything was perfect. Warm and sunny, little or not wind and hungry fish.
