Called Ut. Co. Parks today to see what's up with the light poles that have been installed at the end of each bank on the launch channel. They are installing solar power lights that should be up and functional within in a couple of weeks. Nice. Now all we need is some water.
Was fishing today near Bird Island with a 4 inch white bass. I was a half mile out from the island in deeper water looking for a big'un. Got a solid hookup that would not budge from the bottom and I fought him big time for most of a half hour. Was certain I had a new state record cat. He made several long runs but my superior fishing skills held him in check until I finally got him to the net.......... damned ol' monster carp. Gees, ruins a good fishin' day. Lots of bait anyway.[mad]

Nice story BLK, I was already stressing over being further behind. You know how it goes for me this year, I gain a half inch and then you jump another 2". Not much time left, I hope I can get another trip in. Congrats on the rocky mountain tarpon, best fighten fish around. Later J

[#0000FF]Good to hear on the lights. Some of us early types might benefit from those on occasion.
Have they removed that concrete barrier on the south dike?
Too bad you couldn't get that big carp to "transform" into a huge kitty. I have caught a few carp on chub minnows in the past but can't recall getting any on the whitettes. But all the big fish in the lake seem to eat all the small fish so nothing should surprise us.

[#0000FF]Just a word of caution. That is a Utah County park and they have posted regulations against alcoholic beverages. I have seen them issue citations for folks out enjoying a cool one while fishing from the dikes. You may have been jesting but it's important to not give other folks the idea that it is okay.[/#0000FF]
