Lake Lowell Bass Fishing

Had a great night out on the water crushing some beastly largemouth on topwaters! I caught over a half dozen in a couple hours. It was really fun.

Those are some great bass, and on topwater no less. I think it's a little cooler here in the eastern part of the state, so I think topwater is about done here ly [frown]

I agree fall fishing is the best! I've never fished much in Eastern Idaho for Bass. What are some of your favorite lakes to fish?

I'm just being careful about letting the word out on some smaller waters. Too many lurkers around here [:/]

Lets just say that most of the Preston area waters have some good bass fishing. Twin, Condie, Winder, Weston, Johnson, Glendale, Treasureton, and Oneida for smallies and eyes. I haven't caught much for size at Lamont, but I know people who have caught absolute monsters there, so it may warrant another look. The nice thing is that there are so many little lakes in the area, that if one isn't producing, you can move to another rather quickly.

Guess that sounded a little harsh. Didn't really mean it to, more of a joke, but on the other hand Internet posts can be a problem for our smaller waters. It is amazing that a post can get hundreds of reads in an hour.

We have quite a few reservoirs here in Southeast Idaho that have bass. Most of them contain some good fish, but the lakes are small and can be fished out quickly. Come and try some out, but naming them on the Internet will destroy them.

And for those lurkers who want some bass to eat, give Treasureton a try. The bass were illegally put in Treasureton so they need thinning to keep them in check. With enough thinning, the bass and trout might both do well, but if not thinned then the over population will stunt both. No size limit or number limit on the bass there. Still need to use barbless hooks though.

Small waters are fun to fish. You guys are lucky you live close to so many great places to catch bass!

While most aren't huge, those Treasureton bass have some shoulders and are a lot of fun to catch. I think with some thinning that lake has a lot of potential.

I agree, we are pretty lucky. Being a float tube fisherman, it's the perfect place for me.

Caught 2 of the biggest Crappie I ever caught in Idaho in that corner. but out by the buoys in front of the outlet. Close to 15 years ago.
