Warner and Calder are hot but sketchy!!!
#1
If you know where these reservoirs are you know how incredible the fishing can be on both of them. We hit both on them on 11/26 and they were hot! We fished Matt Warner from 9-11:30am and caught 30 fish between 5 of us and NONE of them were under 18". The fish would come in schools and a few times all 5 of us would get a fish on or at least a hit! We were using worms and wax worms and had most success on anything that was chartreuse in color. BUT the ice was SKETCHY!!! Be very careful when getting on the ice especially after these last few days of warm weather. One of the DWR guys we were with went through the ice by the bank, nothing serious but went up to his thighs and made for a cold morning of fishing. Even out where we were fishing the water was only 3-4" thick. Calder wasn't as hot but we ended up catching a few fish, 1 of them was a 23" 5.5lb monster and put up quite the fight. Another was 21" and about 4lbs and also put up a battle. Keep in mind Calder is a artificial lure only and you cannot even use scented tube jigs! This is strongly enforced on this lake and is patrolled often. This lake also had very thin ice and again would strongly recommend caution when fishing either of these reservoirs anytime soon. Good luck and be safe!
