Went to BC last weekend with an auger. Ended up at Bear Lake. Ice was blown up to the dam and definitely not stable. Poked right through it. Much of the lake was still open. That's not a problem though if the dam stuff freezes together and stays cold.

Special walk-in access for the upstream end of the lake now too, apparently.

It's legal to hike up the dam and fish that area though. Just the upstream edge. Check it out online at the DWR site. There's a map.

I'd think that it might even be ready now, but for sure by next weekend.

(BTW - Bear Lake was slow for me but I got a 20" rainbow and Holdsworth got a 21" whitefish among others.)
