So got up to 25-30 sustained winds at Wild Rose this morning. After a day of lights out fishing I was looking forward to a repeat. I learned a valuable lesson today. No matter how lite the winds are blowing, no matter what direction they are coming from, be sure and take your shack down for overnight. I spent two hours this morning putting back together my dads shack and getting my brand new Frabill flipped back over and taken down. Drifts were building up where it was tuff to get four wheeler through I saw some as high as four feet. The day before I headed out to my honey hole in about 15 feet of water. We got bit about once every ten minutes with quality fish with shoulders. Had one in the hole that would have been in the six range but broke my six pound test. To excited to get in hole, didn't tire out enough. Finished out with icing between two of us 35 fish. Ended up with two nice four and a half pound cutthroats. Was looking for a brook trout for the ice fishing contest and I haven't been able to buy a decent size brook. Got on the board but not with a big one. Sounds like it's going to get really cold up there, don't know for how long though.

I would still take the wheeler. At Wild Rose the Marina just begs to have drifts made around it. And of course our shacks made massive drifts! I would guess there was about eight inches on top of my truck this morning and the winds were swirling it around.

Hey Taz,
How much room they got plowed out at the Wild Rose or anywhere else big enough to accomodate a gooseneck trailer?

When I left the wind was still howling and all there was in sight was big drifts. He has a big tractor with a massive blower on it though and there would be plenty of room for your fifth. If your talking about summer though there is plenty of room for sure.

Its never been an issue in the winter to park down by the marina and go onto the ice. In the summer though they charge a ten dollar launch fee.

Nope speaking of now, I use my horse trailer for a snowmobile trailer.
Haven't been to Henrys when I couldn't walk on it for over 10 years.
Only started coming back the year they kept it open until the end of Nov.
When I drug my trailer into the State park lot last Sunday, there was a fair drift down by the toilets that I made it through, but with the wind of late, I am skeptical about access tomorrow. May just ride in from the road.
Tight lines,
Ouzel
Just go further out. I found 16 FOW last time I was there.
yep it's pretty easy to find, from the launch bay on the hatchery side go out maybe a 100 yards or so and you hit the deeper water. Headed that way in the morning possibly

Balmy -9 near Ririe, but looking toward the canyon it appears and inversion maybe trying to begin. At least up the valley.
It is -21 outside in Island Park .
yup and 15mph winds. We got on at Wild rose at 7:15. Iced around 15 by 11. Missed as many as we caught. Lake was popping and groaning as she was making ice quick today. Kept a couple limits of fish for the smoker. White paddle bugs and black marabou jigs were the ticket as usual.

With all the wind it was actually pretty spoty. Few inches of hard wind blown stuff in spots and then foot to two foot drifts in others. Was actually easier to get around today than it was before the wind Saturday. Fish were coming through about 6 ft down and we fished in 14-15 feet of water.
