There is no ice at all on DC! a little bit in between the island and the road and about 20 yards on the dam but not fishable. Charleston bay the ice is receding I would not dare to venture on it. I drive by it every morning and night.

So, if there is no ice for the ice fishing tournament, are they going to change it to a boating/ shore fishing contest? I don't think there will be ice by then. I hope the ice is still good for fishlake next weekend.

[Smile]I was at DC yesterday 1/14. The north end is not fishable on the ice. It is open water between the parking lot and ice. Six swans were enjoying swimming. Wallsburg bay has a complete layer of ice just starting. Both ramps have snow pushed forming a wall across them. Most of the lake is open water. Shore fishing is possible. You can tell the lake is right at the freezing point.

Yes deer creek is fishable on the shore. There is no boat access right now. There is no safe ice. Yes there is a derby on the 24th. If you have paid your registration fee this will be an open water derby. I don't think deer creek will freeze. Too warm of temperatures for the next 2 weeks. As for places to fish from the shore wallsburg bay, part of rainbow bay, and island boat camp.
