Lincoln Beach Cat
#1
Nice day today at Lincoln Beach, Pretty view and mostly calm water with water temp at 8:30 at 49 degrees and warming to 51 by noon.

Catin' was slow. Caught only one cat but it was a nice one and surely contest worthy. Had a couple of other bites but no captures.

Looked like a dozen or so wally guys were out and a few bank tanglers on the launch arms. Maybe 4-5 boats out at Bird Island. We need more water and more sun.

The best is yet to come.

Didn't weigh him but guesstimated at around 10 lbs. He's still out there putting on weight so hope to meet up with him again.

Caught him on carp meat in about 7 ft. of water. Fun.

Nice work, Blk! I was down by Lindon this morning, myself. Caught a few, but nothing over 25". How long were you able to stretch that brut out to?

Very nice, BLK!!! How 'bout you join the North? Smile

29" straightened? You just equaled the biggest Channel I've ever caught. And we both know there are bigger ones in both UL and Cutler Res.

Nicely done buddy.

Nice one! I'm already feeling the pressure. I'll need to go out tomorrow and see if I can even come close. [reply][reply][/reply][/reply]

That is a nice catch. I was on the south end and Lindon. My first time there. I did not know what I was doing. I did catch a very nice perch and a couple of muddies. GO SOUTH. Maybe I will get lucky next week. My mantra "even a broken watch is right twice a day.

Well my cat didn't count, I caught it on my set line instead of my pole. Silly kitty took the smallest bait and hook on the line. Makes me wonder if it's more location than presentation. Anyway the cats are prowling following the carp. If you find muddy water the cats will be there. I won't tell Ya what to do on the Sunday trip, I'm sure the fish will bite, but it's just not worth it to me. So far the cats are hitting everything equally. I've caught them on nightcrawlers, minnows both carp and fatheads and my cutbait wasn't very good so I put out the set line and got some fresh carp so I'll try that soon and see how it works. Haven't tried shrimp or stink bait, but the others are working. Good luck and give BLK a run for his money. Oh one last tip, most of the cats I have caught this year were trolling and moving slow. If you don't troll try retrieving one rod slowly on the bobber. I've caught six to two on moving verses still. The two still ones were both on the set line. Ya know I'm a little ADD at times so I can't just let things sit too long. But I have tried hours of just soaking too and it hasn't been working as well. Crazy thing, they like the crawlers trolled too. Well that's about all I've learned so far go get'em. Later J

What time were you there? I was around that area myself from about 7:30 am to 11:00 am. In a blue float tube. I have yet to catch a perch from UL.

[#0000FF]Nice work young man. But I think your weight estimate might be a bit high. That is a "slender" daddy cat. They weigh less for their length than more chunky females.

Hear is a pic of TubeBabe and a 29 inch female that weighed 10.2 pounds on good digital scales.

My brother and I went to UL yesterday as well. We were at American Fork boat Harbor though.

Using shrimp and fishing from shore out into the main lake, I caught three fish. Two kitties, the bigger one was a fat 25 inches and an estimated 4lbs or so (we forgot the scale), and a nice size white bass. We got there about about 1pm and stayed until 5pm, and those were the only three we got. Fishing was a little slow, but it was a great day to spend outside!
