Is Willard Open Yet?
#1
I know that the North Marina at Willard was to remain closed for the search and rescue teams. But now that the fisherman was found, I'm wondering if the North Marina is back open or will be open Friday. When I call the marina, all I get is the same canned message that has been there for a long time ... nothing regarding the current event. Anyone heard definitively?

I was wondering the same thing for tomorrow... If you find out I'd appreciate it if you post the answer.... Sounded like they caught fish yesterday from the south marina... So I'm hoping the cold spell hasn't shut things down.... Well may see you tomorrow, think I'll fly my flag so say hello if you see me... Later J

Launched at the North Marina this morning along with 3 other boats. The bulk of the S&R gear was already removed. Good luck!

Not a problem launching from the North, still a few markers on the water but everything was clear. Oh yea and the catching wasn't bad either.[Wink]

Thanks, Curt.
I will be launching from the North Marina on Friday at about 8:30 am.
I need to get a new season park pass. Hope there will be someone at the gate to sell me one.

There hasn't been anyone at the gate this year, that could change but what I always do is just drive straight to the state parks building and get my pass there. There is usually someone there that time of the morning.

Any danger of dinging a prop out of the north marina?

Yes. Keep an eye on your sonar and trim your motor till you get in deeper water.
Inside the Marina there are some shallow spots but with a little caution you will be fine.

I forgot to put out my quga certificate and my parks pass the other day. I have to go to Brigham to pay for my screw up. I called them and asked how much I can expect to be penalized ... $130 !!!

Ouch.

My new "Before Launching" check list has now been modified to include "Quaga certificate on dash" and "Parks Pass on dash".

If I launch and hug the dock, then head straight for the gap, how shallow is it? Should I just wade out?

It is 4 to 5 ft deep going out the channel as long as you don't go to the left or right too far, here is a pic that should help, just do not go beyond the black lines and you should be ok.

Don't take any big boats east of the ramp at all in the marina! I pulled a guy out last week who drifted just far enough back to get stuck...

[#000000]I get mine online. I got tired of chasing people around to buy one. They issue a temporary pass when you order it and the permanent pass shows up in the mail in a couple of days.[/#000000]
Here's the site:

Willard has no one at either entrance gate. I bought a pass yesterday at the entrance to Antelope Island.
