Will the wind kill the wipers?
#1
Not dead, just their enthusiasm for biting.

I work 7 on/7 off, and the weather and reporrts have been beautiful all week, but my days off don't start until tomorrow. If it's not freezing cold, but windy tonight, and I out of luck for a few days?

I've caught wipers at Willard on some pretty ugly days so yes its possible but not really much fun . high pressure and less wind is better if you can try and time the weather, I wouldn't go out during this next storm , it will be much cooler and very windy you may have a saftey issue

It is my experience that, if on a regular (high barometric pressure) day, when I might normaly catch 4 wipers, then on a low pressure day, I would catch zero or 1 at best. If it is a windy day but not necessarily a "low pressure" day, then the bite will slightly increase for walleye and be almost unchanged for wiper. The wiper bite is definately better when there has been a few days of consistant high pressure. That is my "general" opinion. Having said that, most of us have experienced the opposite but that is definately not the normal.

[#0000FF]With the current low water conditions the wind will cause bigger waves that wash against all the exposed mud banks. That will cloud up the water for a few days and reduce visibility for sight-feeding predators like wipers.
