In the last couple days I've been hearing and seeing a really cool phenomena. Had a nice 2' catfish on the other night and it took a run towards my second line, so I tried to turn it before it tangled my line, well the extra tension ticked off the cat and it leaped in the air like a rainbow or bass.... Really fun fight with solid runs followed by aerial acrobatics, only had that happen once before with catfish so I thought it was sort of rare, then my friend Tyson had the same thing happen last night with his 2' cat... My question to you is, have you seen this happen very often? thanks J

[#0000FF]Not uncommon at all in shallow water...once the fish get active enough to fight hard. They dive for the bottom, bump their nose and go back the other way...straight up. While they are still cold they tend to just roll and head shake a lot.

That makes sense because the soft bottom here makes it so they only do it in areas of harder bottom, because both spots I seen it happen has a hard clay bottom... where most of the area around here is really soft silty bottom and I typically have not seen that behavior very much... Thanks Pat...
Not sure my reply made much sense, need to work on my written expression skills I guess... Later J

[#0000FF]I unnerstan jes fine. I speak fluent fishese.
Bein' a fisherman means never having to apologize for syntax, grammer, punctuation, spellin' or none of that other fancy schmancy stuff.
It's a good thing we don't have a language screen on this board. Some folks would never be able to put up a post. The important thing is tangler to tangler communication. As long as the meaning gets across that's all that's important.
