Great Basin NP in July

I am looking at a trip to the Great Basin NP in July and I am wondering if anyone here has fished it? I posted this on the Nevada board with minimal response. PM's are welcome. Thanks!

I know there is a lake or two up there but I've heard they're fishless?

Looking at a map there are a few lakes but they are all hike in. Lots of streams though. So I am going to take my 4 wt fly rod for sure. But other than that I am clueless as to what is there.

I have heard there are fish in the lake under Wheeler Peak and Bald Mountain. It's gonna be a bit of a walk to get there. My guess is Baker Lake is fish-less though.

That place is EPIC!! Best dam skiing in the westenr united states I tell ya! Combine the mountain terrain with the Lehman caves which many say is "a real life hallucination".....and your up for a great trip. The stars are amazing in such dark country too!

It is the 2nd least visited national park in the USA so enjoy the hidden gem!!

Several years ago I remember seeing a display in the visitors center about stream restoration efforts and restocking with native Bonneville Cutthroat trout in several creeks. I am not even sure if these areas are open to fishing. The creeks I saw were all very small and would be very challenging to fish. There is a lake by the Wheeler Peak campground but I do not believe it is stocked for fishing. Beautiful area, probably better for hiking and exploring more than fishing. If you are adventurous, try climbing Wheeler Peak 13,000+ and very windy although not too difficult. I came across a herd of about 15 deer, all bucks while on the trail. Enjoy your trip..

Locations to Fish

Lehman Creek - From Upper Lehman Creek Campground to the park boundary. Brown, brook and rainbow trout.
Baker Creek - From Baker Creek trailhead through Grey Cliffs Group Campground. Brown, brook, and rainbow trout.
Snake Creek - From park boundary to pipe outlet (3 miles in). Brown and brook trout.
Strawberry Creek - Catch and release Bonneville cutthroat trout.
Baker Lake - Accessed by a 12 mile hike round trip from Baker Creek trailhead. Baker Lake is at an elevation of approximately 10,730 feet. The lake is approximately 4 surface acres at its maximum and drops rapidly through the summer. Brook and Lahontan cutthroat trout.
Shingle or Williams Creeks - Accessed by four wheel-drive roads on west side of park. Rainbow trout.

Thanks! So far the NPS says that strawberry creek has bonneville in them. Baker lake has lahontans. Small streams can be fun. I picked up a 4 wt fly rod a few years a go to play with small streams.
