reels
#1
Hello fellow anglers been a member for a while havent really posted very much but my question is does anybody know of a friend or anyone or a place, business, etc that repairs reels? Pretty ridiculous to send one to Iowa for a spring probably cost as much with shipping as it would be to buy a new one. But it's not a cheap reel or Id buy a new one.

What brand is the reel? Do you have a schematic or know the part number?
I would go to their website and peck around for a link that takes you to parts or call their main number. If there is one piece of advice I would give is that all fishermen should know how their reels work. I am a Shimano and Abu Garcia guy and have ordered parts for all my reels many times, even turned a couple of 5:1 gear ratio reels to 7.1:1 ratio. I know how to pull apart my reels, clean them, and get them back together with no pieces left over[Wink]

I have a friend that has some high end Shimano's that needed Parts/maintenance. We ordered the parts, took the reels apart, cleaned, and reassembled in less than an hour. They sound/cast as good or better than new. It helps that we live in a dry climate, so less corrosion.

Learn how your reels work and how to service them yourself and that reel will last a lifetime.

I'm a Daiwa Zillion lover but I have a Quantum Tour PT that has been sitting in my office for a while. The bar doesn't return after clicking reeling like there is a bad spring or something. I have been meaning to send it off but maybe you could help me? Shoot me a pm

So after reading this thread, I went home and got out 3 old MItchell 300 & 410 reels that I thought were no good. I looked up some stuff on the Youtube, and by the evening I had serviced and salvaged 3 great reels. I can't wait to use them again. Thanks for the push in the right direction. I got a lot of satisfaction out of taking apart, cleaning and re-assembling my reels.

Thanks!
