That is a nice musky. I would love to get my hands on one of those this year... Does anyone know if they are very active this time of year, or when the best time to fish for them is? Judging from the picture and story, catching 2 in one night, seems like they must be active. My brother caught one in the fall last year, but I haven't done much research on the musky yet.

Yeah, the state wanted to grow their own until some numbskull caught all the true Muskie they had in a pond at the lee Kay center.

DWR has found VHS disease free sources (South Dakota and Nebraska) and has been stocking TM fingerlings into PV for the past 4-5 years. However stocking fingerlings 1-2" the survival rate isn't the greatest as compared to stocking fish that are 8-12" already. The DWR has also stocked other waters with them. Currently no TMs caught from Newton or PV can be kept other bodies of water that have them you can keep one over 40".
Finally, Utah DWR has attempted to raise there own TMs for stocking but unfortunately have not had great success, yet anyways. We along with other serious and dedicated TM anglers can only hope the DWR keeps the restriction for mandatory C&R in place and also crack the code and raise Utah's own TMs.
