Causey Report
#1
After work yesterday, grabbed the kayaks and my dad and ran up to Causey, in search of some Kokanee (we have been trying to scratch them off the species list) we were dragging some Lil Jakes and spinners, had a lot of hits on the way up the fingers.. with nothing getting hooked. At the finger we were throwing a lot of spoons around and we started hooking into a lot of Rainbows. With NO KOKANEE! Sad it was getting dark so we started heading back pulled some more lures. And about 30 feet from shore my dad hooked into his first Kokanee ha ha which is typical of my dad haha it was cool to see one!
If anyone is willing to share some tips on how to catch them a little more regularly we really don't know much about them. So anything to catch them from a Kayak or a Float tube. Also I would like to catch some Splake out of there so again.. if anyone is willing to share some tips PM's are welcome Smile thanks guys !

Pretty murky when you get a ways out there. when you get near the inlet its not as bad, but in the middle its pretty murky. water was pretty warm too

I don't suppose you have a fish finder on your yak do you? That would help locate the kokes but next time, try some bright colored lures, like pink or orange. Then, if you put a dodger in front of the lure that will help as well.

When I was there last summer all the planters hung out at the inlets where the cool water comes in. But that water was murky too.
