I have caught ALL of my chub using a small piece of worm (½ inch) on a #10 Gamakatsu Octopus hook. But I have been thinking about using a salmon egg on a salmon egg hook rather than a piece of worm. Have any of you used salmon eggs to catch chub?

[#0000FF]Hey Coot, next time you are in my neighborhood you can stop by and I will give you some little size 12 jig hooks...with 1/100 oz. heads. A bit of worm or tiny dough ball will catch chubs like crazy...down to the smaller sizes that work well for ice fishing. Small salmon eggs will work but no better than less expensive stuff. Bigger eggs are sometimes too large for smaller chubs to slurp up.
I have painted some of them up in different colors but have found that it makes no difference. The plain unpainted ones work just as well. They are simply part of the BDS...bait delivery system.
Sometimes it is best to add a small bobber a few feet above the jigs...especially when there are weeds and rocks in shallow water.
Every time I go throwing my cast net or soaking minnow traps my wife goes along and uses a tandem rig of those small jigs and usually adds a significant number to our haul. Plus, she has fun...as she contemplates catching big catfish on them.
