Went up to Echo lake with a buddy Friday / Saturday. Awesome scenery and great fishing. Caught a bunch of Goldens and a few Brookies. Road is rough as advertised. Mosquito was the fly of choice but caught some on Tan Elk Hair Caddis.

Nice report. It really is beautiful up there, even with the roads.
It looks like the goldens (and brookies) are as skinny as ever. Did you get any that were longer or bigger?

Thanks for the great report.
It takes me back in time.
Many years ago, I took Scouts up there.
It was after the bridge was taken out by the Trial Lake Dam Break.
We had the place to ourselves.
We had to forge the riven to get there.
Back then the Brookies were bigger but there were no Goldens or Greyling.
Our best flies were Blue Duns and Adams patterns.
Did you make the hike up to Joan Lake?
A lot less angling pressure up there.

We only fished Echo. We were after the Goldens to check off the species list.

Did you have a dog with you?
The last picture over near the left side looks like a dog standing there in the distance.
Nice report and pics. Thanks for sharing.
