Brown water at Willard
#1
[fishon]What is up with the brown water at Willard? Have been out 4 times in the last 10 days and at first thought it had been whipped up by the wind. But now thinking is alge or something. Any ideas? I don't think the fish can see the lure.

When Willard is high, the edges have nice clean rock for the waves to break against. But when it's low, the waves break on mud. Hence, muddy water.

Contributing to that may well be algae, due to the extra-warm waters - also a shallow-related problem.

Take heart, though. Shad can and will take care of a lot of the algae, and more water will fix the muddy shores.

Welcome to the site Billfish99. Willard is that color because of the water splashing against the shore, When the lake is full or at least up to the rocks, you don't see it like that, unless it's coming down the inlet in the Spring. You are right about the fish not being able to see your lures well but they can hear them or feel them with their lateral lines. I was out there on tues and caught these two, in three hours of fishing.
