Mammoth & Cleveland - Water cooling - Fishing heating up!
#1
A friend of mine and I fished Mammoth from our tubes yesterday from 9:00 until 1:00. We were using fast sinking (#7) lines with size 6-8 bead head soft hackles. We caught a good number of fish, all tiger trout, from 8" - 21" long. The reservoir is 66% full and dropping. The water temperature was 60 degrees, two degrees lower than our last visit. The water is still pretty clear with some algae in the water column. They are doing some logging with the use of a helicopter just southeast of the reservoir so it wasn't a nice quiet morning. We caught about twice as many fish as we did on our last trip.

We had lunch and drove down to Cleveland and fished there from 1:30 until 3:30 and caught all rainbows, from 12" - 18" long, using the same tackle. The reservoir is 62% full and dropping. The water temperature was 60 degrees, three degrees cooler than our last trip. We caught about the same number of fish as we did last time in August.

Both reservoirs have dropped about four feet since our last visit in the middle of August. The leaves are just barely starting to turn on the quakies. This is my favorite time of year.[fishin]
