Strawberry help
#1
Hey all, my wife and I are going camping down by Strawberry soon. My wife really wants to do a boat rental from Strawberry marina. Just looking for some input on this if anyone else has done it and if it's worth it? I'd love to fish from a boat but I like the shore fishing scene too so I'm not to particular. Anyway's, any help is appreciated.

Careful, you may get hooked then be forced to buy a boat of your own! and you know what the acronym BOAT stands for...Bust Out Another Thousand!

Now that I have a boat, I catch at least 3-4 times more fish! But it'll tale more than one trip to get the whole boat fishing down...

Just talked to a friend that rented a pontoon boat from them last weekend and I guess they usually charge $200 for a half day, which includes your first tank of gas, but because it is late in the season they offered to discount it to $140. If you do go, tell them you heard they offered late season discounts and see if they will give you that same deal. Have fun!

What one angler enjoys another doesn't, so you really need to decide what is important to you and your wife. I greatly prefer fishing from a boat at Strawberry because if the fish aren't in one area I can try another one. I also prefer to catch them vertically jigging or casting and bouncing back to the boat, and neither one works well from shore. That said, if I didn't own a boat I wouldn't be renting one, although it is cheaper to occasionally rent a boat than to own one for the entire year (unless one's boat is an inflatable raft or some other inexpensive style of boat).

Fished from shore saturday. caught 4 slot cuts but the sea-weed was so bad it was difficult to fish from shore. Almost all shore fishermen had the same issue. If you go from shore be able to cast a pretty distance or you will have a gourmet salad for dinner instead of fish.[crazy]

Thanks for the input everyone. I guess I should have been more clear and specific. I do own a float tube and plan on taking it and I enjoy fishing out of it. I just cant twist my wife's arm into getting one for her although it would be the same price as a boat rental [cool] but I'm not complaining since she really wants to fish so I'm just gonna make her happy and probably do the rental. I'll ask about the discount, that's good to know! I do love vertical jigging off my float tube and out of boats when I get the chance. Thanks for you input!

Since I have my own boat I don't know what rental options are available and I never launch from the Strawberry Marina. I would think that they have small aluminum boats to rent that would be lot cheaper than pontoon boats.

Nope. They've decided to go big or stay at home.
