Suggestions where to fish this Sunday
#1
My family and I are going out of town next week, and my brother works graves. To get his sleep cycle ready, he is going to stay up all morning of Sunday (he usually sleeps in the morning). I have convinced him to go fishing with me, and need some suggestions on where to go.

Last weekend I went up to Mirror Lake for some trout fishing, but this trip I would like to go somewhere that I can target a few other types of fish. Also, mirror lake is a bit farther than we want to go this trip.

I was thinking of trying Kaysville pond, because I have heard it has bass in it, along with trout, cats, and panfish. Anyone had any luck there? Are bass and cats even biting this time of year?

This is my first year fishing so I have a pretty hefty lack of knowledge... If I were to throw a texas rig into some brush trying to get a bass, would my current 6# line be sufficient, or would I break the line constantly? If I did need to up my line, would i need to re-spool, or put a leader on my current line.

Sorry, I got side tracked; lets finish on topic... If you had 4 or so hours to fish, and wanted to stay about an hour from SLC / Bountiful, where would you go?

Thanks

Bountiful Pond would be another option.

Jordanelle may also be an option. If you can get there early you could find some trout, also perch and bass are usually hanging out on the shorelines looking for a meal.

However if you are willing to travel a bit further, I think I would hit Deer Creek. There are some great reports coming in claiming really good bass fishing from shore right now. Problem is Deer Creek is probably more like 80-90 minutes from you.

Also, I think you are fine sticking with your 6# line. Good Luck.

Deer creek actually would not be too bad distance wise. thank you for the suggestion. Any specific side or area for deer creek? its pretty big, so there are a lot of areas to choose from.

I would go near the island. I'm a fly guy so I would be throwing wooly buggers and streamers. If you not using flies I would use rapalas or spinners. Good Luck.
