"Itching for ice"

All of my ice gear has been triple checked.....I simply cannot wait to get out and start drilling holes! No ice on PV yet, was there yesterday. I did see that there is ice forming this morning at Hyrum (via the live lake cam they have )! Does anyone know if ice has started forming at Mantua? Newton? How about Birch Creek Res? I get it....hurry up and wait but still interested in what others are seeing out there...[]

I'm planning on throwing it all in in the 20 minutes before I leave, like I always do, but I am really chomping at the bit this year.

I always fish with my kids so the "thickness of ice" threshold for me is 4-5 inches minimum.....goal #1 is safety, goal #2 is kids having fun and then catching fish is #3.

Claims or desires of some fisherman being "first on the ice" are perplexing to me....I for one am not impressed... these reports could lead to a false sense of security that endangers others...
